Meridian is entering its sixteenth year.  It was set up just over 15 years ago by a group of enthusiasts to encourage new beekeepers into the craft and to encourage new and existing beekeepers to look after their bees well, by means of good husbandry and increased knowledge.  In addition a great deal of time and effort has been put in by many members educating the public and in particular school children.  Our numbers have risen from twenty nine at the end of the first year to seventy and we expect to rise some more.  The mentoring scheme and help line have been very popular and normally problems can be sorted out and if the association doesn’t know then we know someone who should.
